Oral Surgery

Smiling middle aged couple

You’re in Good Hands
With Our Team

At Hedgecock Dental, we understand the thought of oral surgery can make any patient uneasy, especially those with any level of dental anxiety already. To make matters worse, many dentists will refer you to an oral surgeon in Austin, where you don’t know the doctor and they don’t know you.

That’s why we’re happy to provide all of your oral surgery needs right here from the comfort of your dental home. Whether you have a failed dental implant, you need a tooth extracted, or you’ve been in an accident and need a full mouth reconstruction, we can take the very best care of you every step of the way at Hedgecock Dental.

The Process

With any oral surgery procedure, we will sit down with you beforehand to discuss all of your options. Oral surgery is always a last resort, but is necessary in many cases. We will develop a custom treatment plan to get your oral health back on track, and answer any and all of your questions along the way.

We will discuss anesthesia options, although most surgical procedures are performed under oral or IV sedation to ensure the most comfortable experience for the patient. We will give you detailed pre and post-op instructions to follow to ensure the fastest healing and recovery.

We may prescribe pain killers to help ease any discomfort following the procedure, and you will need to arrange for transportation to and from your appointment as you will not be able to drive after being under general anesthetic.

Wisdom Teeth & Extractions

While our primary goal is to keep your natural teeth healthy – and in your mouth – for as long as possible, there are many circumstances in which an extraction may be in your best interest. At Hedgecock Dental, extractions are a fairly routine procedure.

You may need an extraction if you have a tooth that is:

  • Impacted or at an angle where it is stuck or unable to erupt
  • Badly broken or decayed
  • Infected or causing pain
  • Causing teeth to be too crowded
  • Affecting your bite
  • Unable to support itself due to periodontal disease
