3D Cone Beam Imaging

CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) imaging technology scans the entire structure of the mouth and jaws, generating comprehensive and detailed x-rays that include the nerves, sinus cavities, and blood vessels. The precision and quality of these images allow for treatment planning you can trust, and as a very important added bonus, CBCT uses significantly less radiation than traditional x-rays of years past. You can also count on increased peace of mind and reliable results. 3D imaging has proven especially beneficial for diagnosis and treatment of:

  • Dental implants
  • Endodontics (root canal)
  • Orthodontics
  • Trauma
  • TMJ/TMD

Air Abrasion

An air abrasion tool is like a tiny sandblaster, removing decay while conserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible. In most cases, air abrasion eliminates the need for the dental drill, which is good news for the many patients that dislike the noise, vibration and pressure that comes with drilling. The relative quiet of air abrasion also tends to make the atmosphere calmer for anxious patients.

Arestin® Antibiotics

Arestin is the brand name for minocycline, a tetracycline antibiotic that combines with dental treatment to fight the bacteria that causes gum disease. Its local application has been found to reduce pocket depth so gums can heal better than with scaling and root planing alone.

Digital X-rays

Digital x-rays are quick and easy, taken in minutes while you relax in the dental chair. You are able to see the images onscreen right along with our team and better understand not only your own oral health, but recommended treatment. Like CBCT imaging, digital x-rays have drastically reduced radiation exposure for increased safety.

Intraoral Camera

Intraoral cameras resemble a pen and can provide high-resolution images of every nook and cranny in your teeth and gums, no matter how tricky the angle. This level of accuracy and insight provide our team with the tools we need to detect decay, disease, and other dental concerns earlier than ever before.

Laser Cavity Detection with DIAGNOdent™

DIAGNOdent™ laser cavity detection technology allows us to detect potential caries (cavities) by utilizing a low-level laser light, enabling diagnosis much sooner than the recent past, when decay had to be visible to the naked eye before it could be addressed.

OralDNA® Labs Bacterial Testing

In the last few years, DNA has been used to find ancestors and solve cold-case crimes-and now its capabilities include detection of risk factors and disease for HPV-related oral cancers and gum disease. Hedgecock Dental uses the OralDNA labs system to keep preventive care the primary focus when it comes to your continued dental health.
